Peter Atkins was born in the Hunter Valley town of Murrurundi, New South Wales in 1963.

 

He studied painting, printmaking, sculpture, life drawing, art history and colour theory at Newcastle Art School in 1983 and 1984.

 

In 1985 he continued his studies in painting at The National Art School, Sydney.

 

Peter lives and works in Melbourne with his partner Dana Harris and son Cato.
